Neon Signs for Events, DJs and Venues

An event sign has one night to earn its keep, and then it should earn it again at the next one. LED neon is built for exactly that: it plugs into any outlet, hangs from a backdrop or a truss in minutes, goes back in its box, and comes out for the next gig looking the same.

We have made signs for DJs, event venues, nightclubs, podcast sets, fundraisers, graduations, reunions, launches and trade show booths since 2014. Below is what events order, what it costs, and when to order so it arrives before the date.

What events, DJs and venues order from us

DJ and artist logos. The logo in neon for the booth, the stage or the backdrop, 24 to 36 inches wide. It travels in the box between bookings and reads on every phone pointed at the booth. A lot of these are ordered as gifts for a DJ by a friend or a partner; send the logo and we draw it for tube. See the logo signs page for how.

Backdrop and stage signs. The event name, a hashtag or the headline phrase on an 8 by 8 foot backdrop or a step-and-repeat. 30 to 48 inches reads in a photo; 6 to 8 feet fills a stage, made in pieces that pack flat. See large neon signs for the bigger sizes.

Venue signs. The venue logo above the bar or at the entrance, "Dance floor", "VIP", the phrase on the photo wall that every guest posts. Event venues and nightclubs order the permanent set once and add seasonal pieces.

Podcast and studio sets. The show name behind the hosts, sized to sit inside the camera frame, usually 24 to 30 inches, dimmed so it does not blow out on video.

One-night signs. "Class of 2026", a reunion year, a fundraiser name, a product launch, a 40th birthday. Ordered for a date, reused at home or the office afterward.

Trade show and booth signs. Light enough to carry on as luggage, plugs in at the booth, packs away in the foam-lined box for the next show.

What an event sign costs

Event signs are priced by width and by how much tube the design needs. Most of the event signs we quote are 24 to 36 inches wide and land between $350 and $650. A short phrase or a name sits at the bottom of each band; a detailed logo sits at the top.

Width Typical price
Under 24 inches $285 to $650
24 to 35 inches $355 to $545
36 to 47 inches $520 to $960
48 to 59 inches $700 to $1,345
60 inches and wider $980 to $1,590

Prices are from the quotes we sent in the last three months and include express shipping, a remote dimmer, the power supply and mounting hardware. Text-only signs, such as a name, a year or a short phrase in one of our fonts, can be designed and priced live in the Customizer, usually for less. See the full price guide.

When to order for a date

Every sign takes about 10 to 12 days from payment to your door, with express shipping included. Add a day or two for the proof and your approval, and the safe answer is to send the quote request 3 weeks before the event.

  • 3 weeks or more: normal order. Send the design, approve the proof, done.
  • 2 to 3 weeks: still fine. Reply to the proof the day it arrives.
  • Under 2 weeks: order rush production ($150). The sign goes to the front of the line, 1 to 3 business days of production instead of 5 to 7, and ships express. Tell us the event date in the quote form and we will confirm whether it is possible before you pay.
  • A few days: ask. 2-day and overnight shipping upgrades exist, and we will tell you honestly whether the date can be met.

Put the event date in the quote form every time. It is the first thing we check.

Why LED neon for events

  • Plugs in anywhere. A 12-volt power supply with a standard wall plug, 100 to 240 volt input, so it runs off a venue outlet, an extension cord or the generator feed at a tent. No electrician, no transformer box.
  • Travels. No glass, cool to the touch, ships in a foam-lined box that doubles as the road case. Keep the box.
  • Hangs fast. Pre-drilled holes and hardware for a wall, or a ceiling hanging kit to suspend it from a truss, a pipe-and-drape crossbar or a backdrop frame on chains or cable. Free standing on a table or the DJ booth works too.
  • Dimmable for cameras. Every sign ships with a remote dimmer. Full brightness blows out on phones and video; most event signs run at half.
  • Color-changing if you need it. RGB color-changing signs switch color from the remote, so one sign matches every event's palette. RGB tube is thicker, so the sign has to be a little larger and costs more at the same width. Single-color signs come in 23 LED colors.
  • Outdoors, with a condition. An indoor sign is fine under a tent or on a covered stage as long as it stays dry. For a sign that will see rain, dew or a sprinkler, order the outdoor build, which is IP67 waterproof with a sealed power supply.

Sizing an event sign

  • DJ booth or podcast set: 24 to 36 inches. Sized to sit inside the camera frame or above the decks.
  • Photo wall or 8 by 8 backdrop: 36 to 48 inches, hung at head height so it lands in the shot with the guests.
  • Stage backdrop: 6 to 8 feet, in pieces that pack flat and join on the frame.
  • Table or bar sign: 12 to 24 inches, free standing.

The rule of thumb is a quarter of the width of the backdrop, with the smallest letters at least 2 inches tall, or 4 inches if people read it from across the room. The size guide has more.

Other lit signs for venues

Neon is the fast, portable choice. For a permanent venue install there are two others worth knowing, and we make both: infinity mirror letters, which have an endless-tunnel glow that photographs like nothing else and suit a club or wedding venue feature wall, and marquee bulb letters for the vintage theater look above a bar or on a stage. Both are quoted per project. Say which room they are for and the proof will show the fit.

How it works

  1. Send the logo or the phrase, and the date. A vector file (AI, EPS, SVG, PDF) is best; a PNG, JPG or a photo works. No file? Describe it and we draw it.
  2. Get a priced design proof within one business day. The proof shows the sign as tube, the size, the colors and the price, and confirms the date.
  3. Approve and pay. Revisions are free until it is right.
  4. It arrives in 10 to 12 days, express shipping included, with the hardware and the power supply in the box.

Tips from 12 years of event signs

  • Hang it where the camera is. Stand where the photographer will stand and hold up a sheet of paper where the sign would go. If it is not in the frame with the people, move it.
  • Dim it for the photos. Half brightness. The glow stays, the letters stop smearing.
  • Bring an extension cord and a gaffer roll. The power supply cord is a few feet long; the venue outlet is never where the backdrop is.
  • Test it the day before. Plug it in at home, run the dimmer, check the hanging kit. Nothing on the day should be new.
  • Design it for the second life. A name and a date goes in a closet; a phrase or a logo goes on the office wall. If it is a one-night sign, consider wording that still works afterward.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a neon sign for an event cost?

Most event signs cost between $350 and $650. A 24-inch name or hashtag is around $400; a 36-inch DJ logo is around $600; a 6-foot stage backdrop is around $1,400. Every quote is free and includes a design proof. Text-only signs can be priced live in the Customizer.

How far in advance should I order?

Three weeks before the event is safe: 10 to 12 days to your door plus a day or two for the proof. Under two weeks, order rush production for $150. Put the event date in the quote form and we confirm it before you pay.

Can I get a sign in time for an event next week?

Often, with rush production and a shipping upgrade. Send the design and the date and we will tell you honestly whether it can be met before you pay anything.

Can the sign hang from a backdrop or a truss?

Yes. A ceiling hanging kit suspends the sign from a truss, a pipe-and-drape crossbar or a backdrop frame on chains or cable. It also stands on a table or wall-mounts with the included hardware.

Can the sign change color for different events?

Yes. Order an RGB color-changing sign and switch the color from the remote. RGB tube is thicker, so the sign is slightly larger and costs more than a single-color sign of the same width.

Can I use the sign outdoors at a tent event?

An indoor sign is fine under a tent or on a covered stage as long as it stays dry. For rain, dew or sprinklers, order the outdoor build, which is IP67 waterproof.

Can I reuse the sign?

Yes. LED neon has no glass and ships in a foam-lined box; keep the box and the sign travels to every event. DJs and venues use the same sign for years.
